Bought a new printer. My old one died after 8 years!

Well my old printer of eight years finally died. I know I can’t believe it myself. It was an HP printer, scanner, copier. I think I spent around $250-$300 for it, oh so long ago. It was nice and worked great for everything I did. Yes it was slow, but hey, who cares, if it works and why replace something that is not broken.
Now you may be saying wow! Eight years and it never broke on you. Hey I didn’t say it never broke, it did, I was just able to always fix it. But this time, it was the main mother board that broke. Just wouldn’t connect to the computer any more.
I replaced it with a Brother MFC-295CN. I have to say I really like Brother printers. This is my first one at home, but we used them at work and they are great work horses. I was a little worried as all the printer’s at work were laser, this is the first inkjet Brother I’ve ever dealt with, but it is trumpeting on fine.
One of the main reason why I love Brother printers so much, is because of their Linux support. I plug it into the network and every computer can use it. Regardless of OS. I can even scan form it in Linux or Windows form any computer. Plus it is a fax machine. Not that I will ever really use that feature.
The auto-document feeder was also an added bonus. It has already come in handy.
It is not really that good at photo printing, but hey anyone who is printing photos form home is wasting there money. Send it to Costco or Walgreens. Better prints and cheaper. Though the ink on this baby is only around $12 dollars. My old HP cost around $40 to replace the ink. Though it defiantly probably held more ink. Again that old printer was a monster compared to this one.
The upside to all of this, is that I only spent $69.00 for it. Crazy how things change in 8 years.
Book Review: The Seventh Tower Volumes 1-6, by Garth Nix

Wow! I haven’t had this much fun in a while. Six books in all. I was lucky to purchase the volume set. It includes all six books in two large volumes.
Complex society and complex plot. I’m amazed this is for teen readers. Brand new look at how fantasy could be. But I should of guess it would come from Garth Nix. If you want adventure and a new sense of magic you should read this series.
The story is set in a world that has been cast into darkness and you have two classes of people. Those who live in the castle that is tall enough to escape outside the darkness and those who live on the ground cast into darkness to live. The two main characters come for the class one from each. As there world collide they have to find a way to save each others families.
I know I’m terrible I should give more detail. Here is the review from amazon:
Tal, a Chosen of the Orange Order, is having the worst luck lately. Just when he is getting ready for the Day of Ascension–a day when all the 13-year-old Chosen from the Castle of Seven Towers enter the spirit world of Aenir–his father disappears with the family’s only primary Sunstone, which Tal needs for the ascension. Without it, he cannot enter Aenir and bind himself to a Shadowspirit–a kind of guardian being that serves as a friend and protector to the person it is bound to. And without a Shadowspirit, Tal will lose both his Chosen status and any hope of finding a cure for his mother’s mysterious wasting illness, a cure that can only come from Aenir. Tal tries to beg, borrow, and even steal a Sunstone. But his attempts fail, and in his final act of thievery, Tal is thrown off the Castle of Seven Towers by a powerful Shadowspirit Keeper and into an adventure beyond his imagining. –Jennifer Hubert

Holiday’s Make me Lazy

Now some of you may already know this, but for those that don’t: When I have free time, I do nothing. And I mean nothing. I slept in, went to bed at 9-10 and eat five or six meals a day. Yes I gained weight. It was nice. I also played all 50 levels of Torchlight in about three days. Torchlight is a computer game, a Diablo type game for those who care. Yes it was a complete wast of time.
During that entire time, I ignored the world. I didn’t post to my blog. No twitter updates or facebook updates. Though i use twitter to post to my facebook page, cause I hate logging in. Thought that my change. I finally found the hide button (I know it was really hard to fine). So now I don’t have to hear from you people about all your cows on farmville or how many people you’ve killed in mafia wars.
But the moral of the story, is that seclusion is great. I might do it again.
